As it was, I had to wait about 10 minutes or so before our boat started to load as apparently the drivers were at lunch. We could have ‘explored ‘ a little longer… The high clouds finally burnt off as we waited, and I hastily brought out my sunscreen and applied it (yes, paranoid Australian!). [...]
Eventually my tour group reappeared from lunch and we set off, first walking through everything I had just explored, then down a narrow street, less than 1m (3ft) wide – the narrowest street in Bruge. Was it really ever a street? Looked like an ally to me!
