At about 6.30pm, I returned to Santa Cruz to witness the Easter Parade. The streets were still relatively empty, but there did seem to be a steady stream of people heading to the San Salvador Church, some were ladies and men dressed either in black or their Sunday/Business best, and an awful lot of gawkers…

For whatever reason, I missed us docking at Santa Cruz – probably happened too close to breakfast and I was too busy! But by 9ish we were being bundled on a bus for our day tour. It was going to be interesting to see what we were going to see given it was Good Friday [...]
We weren’t due to sail straight away that evening so there was no question about staying on board to eat! I guess whatever bug I’d picked up in Sao Antao (along with half the passengers) had made me super sensitive to the food cooking smells on board and I was going to ear in town [...]
We’ve more or less lost our landing at Tenerife… We have to land to clear customs, pick up a birder, supplies and fuel, but the chance of spending the afternoon visiting the Teide National Park and then spending an evening in Tenerife are dwindling.
